FAQs

We started hand-delivering orders in late 2021, then used Uber drivers, then hired someone, and now we ship USA NATIONWIDE, including Alaska and Hawaii!! 

IMPORTANT INFO

  1. WE SHIP ON TUESDAY & WEDNESDAY ONLY.
  2. SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA + LAS VEGAS IS A 1-DAY DELIVERY (meaning if your box goes out Tuesday, it is delivered Wednesday).
  3. ALL OTHER ORDERS ARE TWO-DAY SHIPMENTS (if it goes out Tuesday, it delivers Thursday, if it goes out Wednesday, it delivers Friday).

Order cutoff schedule:

  • Orders placed on Wednesday-Sunday - ship Tuesday/Wednesday the following week and deliver Wednesday/Thursday/Friday.
  • Orders placed on Monday before 1 PM PST* - ship Tues/Wed the same week and deliver Thurs/Fri.
  • Orders placed Tuesday before 1 PM PST* - ship Wednesday and deliver Thurs/Fri. Orders after 1 pm ship the following week.

Unfortunately, there’s no one answer for everyone.

Some Moms are famished postpartum and eat a ton, and some not so much.

Here are some thoughts and feedback we've gathered.

If you're wondering how many servings per container, each container in your package is 28 oz, or about 1.75 pounds of food, which can go many different ways.

  • Chili Example: One container could serve two 14-oz or four 7-oz servings. This could be consumed as two to four meals by Mom only or one dinner for Mom, Dad, and another child(ren).
  • Oatmeal Example: Some customers say the 28 oz oatmeals were 3-4 servings for them.  So... one oatmeal container could be 4 servings (especially if paired with eggs or extra fruit) or two really big bowls of oatmeal.
  • Lentil Stew Example: You can totally add more water or broth to this entree when you reheat.  Some customers eat this as two servings (great for your first meal after baby comes), and some say they brown a pound of pasture-raised ground beef and mix it in!  This turns your 28 oz container into a much bigger portion, especially if you add extra water/broth and top with avocado.

We use 32oz stackable bamboo containers that measure 5" x 7" x 3.5" each, which can be arranged in a variety of ways. View the full FAQ to see examples.

We recommend ordering two to three weeks before your due date. 

The food is frozen and will keep in the freezer for several months.

Unfortunately we cannot accommodate special requests at this time.

We've done this before when we were smaller but right now it's just not possible.  

If you have dietary restrictions or preferences PLEASE email us and tell us what you'd like to see.  The more requests we get the more likely we are to add something to the menu.  Who knows, you might be the person who inspires us to add a new menu item and be the first to get it delivered!  We want to serve as many Mamas as possible!

Our food last several months in the freezer.

Mama Meals is REAL FOOD with no preservatives.  Frozen food can be kept for several months, but we recommend consuming them regularly.  We include a "freshest by" date on the container, but we've gone way beyond that and still enjoyed delicious meals!

We recommend thawing in your fridge for 16-24 hours.

Rather interesting legal regulations prevent us from telling you how we thaw them on the counter in a much shorter time period.  You'll have to figure that out on your own =)

A Postpartum Essential

Absolutely loved having these meals for my second postpartum period. They were nutrition dense and there were a variety of enough recipes that I didn’t get tired of anything. I managed to have these meals last for about 9 days and it was great. Easy for my spouse to prepare! There were 1-2 dishes that were lacking in seasoning/spices/flavor but we just added a bit extra on our own and then they were fine! So happy we used this service!

Best gift to myself postpartum!

The chicken congee, Shatavari rice pudding, lactation brownies and chia pancakes are delicious!! I really loved all the meals and the ingredients in each one. Would recommend to any of my girlfriends!

Great idea but flavors can be improved

I love the idea of this, and the convenience for pp mamas. The fact that it’s made with great ingredients is 10/10. The flavors however were just ok to me personally. Chicken and rice is considered their best dish and it was my least favorite. I liked the rice pudding and the chili. Also the meals are very rice heavy which isn’t good for glucose stability. I was wearing a Libre glucose monitor and would get pretty high spikes after the meals bc they all have so much rice in them (I’m non diabetic). I think having a variety of base ingredients would be a good improvement. Overall I’m glad I tried it, but considering the price I probably wouldn’t buy it again personally.
